How to Calculate Hours Worked
To turn clock times into payroll hours: find the elapsed time between start and end, subtract unpaid breaks, then convert the leftover minutes to decimal by dividing by 60. For example, 8 hours and 30 minutes becomes 8.50 (30 ÷ 60 = 0.50).
Doing this by hand every week is error-prone. A time clock like Kloqk records the punches for you and produces payroll-ready totals automatically — free.
One calculator, whatever you call it
People reach this tool searching for an employee hours calculator, a job hours calculator, a clock-in card calculator, or a clock-out time calculator — it's all the same math. Enter punch times, and it computes hours worked and calculates the time for your timesheet, with totals in payroll-ready decimal hours. It replaces the punched paper time clock time cards your office may still be adding up by hand.
