Overtime
Normal hours are 8 a day and 48 a week over up to 6 days. Overtime, with consent, pays at least 125% of regular pay.
Breaks and lunch
No statutory meal or rest break for adult workers. Employers with 10 or more workers must set rest periods in internal regulations.
Overtime in Jordan
- 1.25x pay for hours past 8 in a day.
- 1.25x pay for hours past 48 in a week.
- Work on the weekly rest day or religious or official holidays pays at least 150% (Sec. 59).
- Without consent, overtime is allowed only for inventory, budgets, closing accounts or sales preparation (max 30 days a year, 10 effective hours a day) or to avoid loss or hazards (Sec. 57).
- Supervisory and managerial staff, and workers who work outside the establishment or travel, are excluded from the hours rules (Sec. 58).
- Weekly rest day is Friday unless the work requires otherwise (Sec. 60).

Breaks and lunch in Jordan
The law does not set a break of a fixed length for adult employees here.
- Minors get at least 1 hour of rest after 4 consecutive hours (Sec. 75).
- Normal hours exclude meal breaks and rest periods (Sec. 56).
