Manager mode: punch someone in or out at the clock

Manager mode lets a manager punch somebody else in or out on the time clock. Tap Manager, type your own PIN, then tap a name. Every punch made this way records which manager made it.

Punch someone in or out

1. On the time clock, tap Manager at the top right.
2. The keypad heading changes to Manager: enter your PIN. Type your own four-digit PIN.
3. The screen turns amber and the bar says Manager mode with your name. Tap the person's name on the board.
4. Choose the punch: Clock In, Clock Out, Start Break, End Break, Start Lunch or End Lunch. Only the punches that make sense right now are offered.
5. Tap Exit manager mode when you are done.

Manager mode also ends by itself after three minutes, so a tablet is never left in it.

Who can use it

Anyone whose employee record has the Manager, HR or Admin role and a PIN, as long as the Punch employees in and out at the time clock row in Settings > Permissions says Yes for that role. It is on for managers by default. A person with the Employee role gets a message that they do not have permission.

Where the punch shows up

• On the person's timesheet like any other punch.
• In their change history, under Timesheet changes on their employee page, naming the manager.
• In the Detailed report when Show edits is on.

Good to know

• Manager mode works on a clock that hides names too: the list of names appears only while manager mode is on.
• Punches made in manager mode have no photo.
• To fix a time after the fact (somebody clocked out an hour late), edit the timesheet instead. See Edit punches and times.
• Managers need a PIN of their own. Set it on their employee record or on the Set PINs page.
