Repeat a schedule with Fill forward
Copy this week's shifts into up to 26 weeks ahead without doubling anybody or overwriting shifts you already set.
Build one week, then use Fill forward to copy it into the weeks ahead. It only fills gaps: a day somebody already has a shift on is left exactly as it is.
Repeat this week
- In the sidebar, click Schedule and go to the week you want to repeat.
- In the bar above the grid, find Repeat this week for the next and type the number of weeks, from 1 to 26.
- Click Fill forward.
- A message says how many shifts were added across how many weeks, and how many days already had a shift and were left alone.
What gets copied
Kloqk works one person and one day at a time:
- A day the person already has a shift on is left exactly as it is.
- A day the business is marked closed stays empty.
- Somebody who has left the business is not scheduled.
- Everything else is copied, including which saved shift it came from, the times and the lunch.
Because it only fills gaps, running it twice never doubles anybody. That also means you can change a few days in a future week first, and Fill forward will work around them.
Undo it
- Go to a week that was filled.
- Click Clear week at the right end of the bar and confirm.
Other ways to repeat a schedule
- Copy a week brings one earlier week into the week on screen, with the choice of replacing it or filling the empty days.
- Default shifts let you click Fill from default shifts on any week to put everybody on their usual shift.
Good to know
- Fill forward copies the week on screen for the whole business.
- The Fill forward button is grayed out until the week has at least one shift.
- Every copied shift is an ordinary shift. Change or remove any of them like any other.
- Holidays you mark closed later are not cleared for you. Open that week and remove the shifts, then mark the day closed.
- Scheduling, including Fill forward, is on the Free plan.
Questions people ask
How far ahead can I fill?
Up to 26 weeks in one go. Type the number in the box beside Repeat this week for the next and click Fill forward.
Will Fill forward overwrite changes I made to a future week?
No. Any day a person already has a shift on is left exactly as it is. Only empty days are filled.
I clicked it twice. Is everybody scheduled twice?
No. The second run finds the days already filled and leaves them alone.
Does it schedule someone who quit?
No. People who have left are skipped.
