See who changed a setting

Open Settings, History to see every settings change, who made it, when, and what the value was before and after.

Every time someone saves a setting, Kloqk records who changed it, when, and what it was before. You'll find the list in Settings, History.

Open the history

  1. Go to Settings and click the History tab.
  2. Read Update history. Changes are grouped by day, newest first.

How to read an entry

Each entry shows:

  • The time of the change, in your business's time zone.
  • Who made it, by name and email.
  • Which area: Payroll, Time clock, Language, Permissions, Locations, Branding, Time off, Departments, Reports, Careers page or Billing.
  • Each change as the setting's name, then the old value struck through, an arrow, and the new value. For example, an overtime rule or a pay period change shows exactly what it was before.

Things it covers

  • Payroll settings, including overtime, breaks, pay period and payroll provider.
  • Time clock settings.
  • Account language.
  • Who can do what, from Permissions.
  • Locations, including time zone, time clock language, adding and removing sites.
  • Branding, time off policy, departments and your careers page.
  • The fields you choose to show on reports.

Good to know

  • The last 200 changes are kept here.
  • Nothing is recorded when you click save without changing anything, so the list only holds real changes.
  • The person's name is saved with the change, so it still reads right after they've left your business.
  • Changes made through an API key show as "API key" followed by the key's name.
  • Change lines are a record and stay in English, even in a translated account.
  • Changes to people's punches aren't here. Those are on each employee's Timesheet changes tab; see Edit punches and times.
  • You need permission to change business settings to open Settings at all.

Questions people ask

Someone changed our overtime rule. How do I find out who?

Open Settings, History. Look for a Payroll entry: it shows who made the change, when, and the old and new rule.

How far back does the settings history go?

The last 200 changes are kept.

Does it show changes to timesheets and punches?

No. Settings history covers settings. Punch changes are on each employee's Timesheet changes tab.

Yes. Their name is saved with the change when it is made.
